The implications are significant. Distribution is being redrawn, with different strategies required to maintain and grow market share across different segments. Considerations include whether or not to i) become vertically integrated, ii) adopt a direct to consumer approach or iii) develop new products or propositions designed to meet specific needs.

As the level of assets moving onto platforms grows, so does pricing pressure. Consolidation among advisory and planning firms is driving this further. Drawing on our knowledge of advice and financial planning, we work with platforms to identify where and how they can add long-term value to firms and their end clients.
This may be looking at what more can be done to reduce costs in an adviser’s business, or how they can engage more effectively with advisers through initiatives such as thought leadership or the creation of packaged planning propositions. We provide support on strategy and business development, and guidance on initiatives such as practice buyout models designed to retain and grow assets.
We help technology providers understand what makes a difference to operating efficiently, and how technology can be used to deliver an exceptional client experience – whether it be digital only,
or as part of a broader advised proposition.
Through our knowledge of the advice market, we work with private equity firms to help them evaluate market opportunities. We act as a sounding board, to determine the viability of business plans. Where acquisitions may be part of the plan, we provide due diligence support covering the business and operating model, client proposition and regulation.
