Serving clients with high expectations

Wealth Planning

We work with businesses involved in delivering wealth planning services. These include wealth planners, discretionary investment managers, asset managers, platforms and technology providers. We also work with private equity firms seeking to invest in the sector.

Wealth planning

Where this recognition and understanding of the implications is at an early stage, we provide support through research and thought leadership to understand clients’ future needs and where the opportunities lie. Examples include pension freedoms and financial planning services designed for specific market segments.

We work to define a strategy to enable the firm to retain clients, and grow. We assess what needs to be evident to respond across proposition, the quality of the end client experience, marketing and business development, and operations. Where acquisition may be part of the strategy, we assist with identifying targets through to providing support with deal execution and integration.

Asset management

For asset managers, distribution dynamics continue to shift, driven by new regulation, pricing transparency, growing emphasis on financial planning, the quality of active fund performance and the rise of digital platforms.

The implications are significant. Distribution is being redrawn, with different strategies required to maintain and grow market share across different segments. Considerations include whether or not to i) become vertically integrated, ii) adopt a direct to consumer approach or iii) develop new products or propositions designed to meet specific needs.

We work with asset managers to evaluate the options. Through our experience of working with wealth managers and financial planning firms, we provide support with research and thought leadership, strategy, business development and adviser engagement programs.

Platforms and technology

As the level of assets moving onto platforms grows, so does pricing pressure. Consolidation among advisory and planning firms is driving this further. Drawing on our knowledge of advice and financial planning, we work with platforms to identify where and how they can add long-term value to firms and their end clients.

This may be looking at what more can be done to reduce costs in an adviser’s business, or how they can engage more effectively with advisers through initiatives such as thought leadership or the creation of packaged planning propositions. We provide support on strategy and business development, and guidance on initiatives such as practice buyout models designed to retain and grow assets.

We help technology providers understand what makes a difference to operating efficiently, and how technology can be used to deliver an exceptional client experience – whether it be digital only,
or as part of a broader advised proposition.

Private equity

Through our knowledge of the advice market, we work with private equity firms to help them evaluate market opportunities. We act as a sounding board, to determine the viability of business plans. Where acquisitions may be part of the plan, we provide due diligence support covering the business and operating model, client proposition and regulation.
